Conditions of Tunisian prisoners in Guantanamo reviewed

guantanamoTUNIS (TAP) - Justice Minister Noureddine Bhiri conferred, on Wednesday in Tunis, with a delegation of Reprieve Organisation, led by Mrs. Katherine Taylor who works on Reprieve's "Life after Guantanamo" Project.

The talk focused on the humanitarian conditions of Tunisian prisoners abroad including those in Guantanamo Bay detention camp.

The minister reminded that Tunisia is seeking, in co-ordination with sisterly and friendly countries as well as with the U.S. Administration, to extradite detainees and offer them fair trial in Tunisia.

He emphasised the importance of co-operation with Reprieve in following up the conditions of Tunisian prisoners and reviewing the possibility to create a relevant co-ordination cell between the Justice Department and Reprieve Organisation.

Reprieve is a non-governmental organisation that uses the law to enforce the human rights of prisoners from death row to Guantanamo Bay.
