TUNIS (TAP) - Libyan authorities, on Sunday, pledged to take urgent measures to stop any breach of the territorial integrity of Tunisia and threat against the security of its citizens, servicemen, security guards and customs on the border.
Libyan Minister of the Interior Faouzi Abdelaal said in a telephone conversation with Interior Minister Habib Essid that his country is committed to deploy the police, the military and customs on the border with Tunisia to prevent transgressions in the future.
Mr. Essid had expressed to his Libyan counterpart his deep concern about the continuing transgressions and violations perpetrated in the border against the territorial integrity and security of Tunisia.
The Libyan Minister reiterated recognition and consideration to the efforts of the Tunisian people and Government to support the Libyan people, underlining that these transgressions should not tarnish the relations of brotherhood binding the two countries.
Violence and many assaults against Tunisians occurred in recent weeks on the border with Libya. Exchange of fire also took place, forcing the Tunisian authorities to close the border posts of Dehiba and Ras Jedir.
