TUNIS (TAP) – Stefano Savona's 90-mn documentary "Tahrir, Liberation Square" was previewed Monday for artists and journalists.
This screening highlights solidarity among Arab peoples and the 21stcentury's neo-revolutionary models. It recounts the story of the Egyptian people and the "Tahrir" square, a public place where the drive for change and the fervent desire to be free do mingle.
"Tahrir" is a film woven by the faces, hands, and voices of those who occupy the Square, a daily chronicle of the revolution.
Cairo, February 2, 2011. Elsayed, Noha and Ahmed are young Egyptians taking part in the uprising. They occupy the Square day and night, talk, shout and sing with thousands of Egyptians.
The bloody repressions of the regime fuel the movement of revolt; in Tahrir, Egyptian people resist. They learn how to discuss, throw stones, invent slogans, treat the injured and defy the army.
Stefano Savona was born in Palermo in 1969. He studied archaeology and anthropology in Rome. He also participated in several archaeological missions in Sudan, Egypt and Turkey.
As of 1995, Savona worked as an independent photographer. Since 1999, he has mainly been working as director and producer of documentaries.
