TUNIS (TAP) - Ennahdha Movement spokesman Najib Gharbi denied that one of the Movement's militants had attacked journalist Sofiene Ben H'mida during the protest staged, on Wednesday morning, in front of the Interior Ministry, accusing the journalist of having provoked the demonstrators and violated the rule of journalistic neutrality.
According to Mr. Gharbi, Mr. Sofiene Ben H'mida shouted "provocative words" at the demonstrators, which incited one of them to push him, specifying that "the assailant has nothing to do with Ennahdha Movement."
A group of Ennahdha party members, he explained, formed a security cordon around the journalist to protect him and escorted him away from the gathering, adding that this group "politely requested" that he does not provoke the demonstrators, explaining that "this attitude is not suitable for a professional journalist like him."
Journalist Sofiene Ben H'mida declared to several media that Ennahdha activists had attacked him "physically," asserting that this assault was carried out against him in view of the media content he presents on Nessma TV channel.
