TUNIS (TAP) - A senior official from Ettakatol Party announced, on Thursday, "collective resignations" from the party.

"Twenty-two officials and 172 members sent resignation letters to the party's leadership," said Mr. Khaldoun Souilhi, senior official of the party.

These resignations come in protest against "the absence of democracy and failure of the party's leadership to manage of the present political stage," Mr. Souilhi added.

Mr. Ahmed Bannour, the party's spokesman, denied the information. Ettakatol, he said, will hold this week-end a national council's meeting to announce "new structuring of the party."
