SFAX (TAP) - The Sfax headquarters of Nida' Tounes party were attacked on Thursday afternoon by a group of people at a time when party activists were holding a meeting, said Nida' Tounes co-founder Mohsen Marzouk.
In a telephone interview with TAP news agency, Mr. Marzouk pointed out that his party would lodge a complaint against the assailants. "Several party members got hurt in the attack, including a woman who was seriously injured," he added.
Local representative Mekki Jaziri accused the Protection of the Revolution Councils League to have staged this assault on the party seat. "Some thirty bearded people physically and verbally attacked women party members and ransacked the premises while shouting slogans hostile to Nida' Tounes and its leader Beji Caid Essebsi."
Chairman of the League Hamadi Maamer denied the allegations, explaining that the matter was "just a minor fight" between Nida' Tounes activists and groups of citizens.
