Resources to be collected from seized assets to be integrated exceptionally into 2012 budget (Prime Ministry)

290812pmconfiscationcommittTUNIS (TAP) - A meeting chaired by Interim Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali was held Wednesday to follow up works of the National Committee for Management of Confiscated Assets and Property.

It focused, in particular, on the launch of the tender for the sale of public stakes in 114 seized companies which are now held by the State, including, "Ennakl," " KIA", telephone operator "Tunisiana," the International School of Carthage and the "Banque de Tunisie."

Resources to be collected from seized assets (bank accounts, cash, real and movable estate, financial contributions), will be integrated, exceptionally, into the 2012 budget, a statement of the Prime Ministry indicated.

The value of these resources is estimated by the Interim Government at nearly 1.2 billion dinars to be directed towards development projects planned in different governorates of the country.

Revenues will also be mobilised to finance national and regional programmes, particularly those for poor categories among low-income persons and those with special needs, the same source added.

The meeting was attended by Minister Responsible of Economic Issues Ridha Saidi, Minister Responsible of Good Governance and Fight against Corruption Abderrahman Ladgham and Secretary of State for Finance Slim Besbes, in addition to the President of the Confiscation Committee Nejib Hnan, President of the Committee on the Fight against Corruption and Embezzlement Samir Annabi and representatives of the Ministry of Public Property and Land Affairs and the Central Bank of Tunisia.
