President Marzouki receives "Al Massar" Party delegation

200213 president recoit parti elemasarTUNIS (TAP) - President Moncef Marzouki received, Wednesday, a delegation of Al-Massar party (the Democratic and Social Path), including Samir Taïeb, Nadia Chaabane, Fadhel Moussa and Faouzi Charfi.

"The President of the Republic suggested that we will be part of the new government," Mr. Taib said at the end of the meeting, adding that "Al-Massar's refusal to join the next government in principle, does not prevent us to consult the party's structures and our allies and friends."

"We will announce our final position today," he pointed out.

Mr. Taieb blames Ennahdha Movement and the Congress for the Republic (CPR) for "the failure" of Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali's "initiative."

"Ennahdha should assume the responsibility of its choices, which have not been equal to this historical moment and have failed to prove to Tunisians that it prioritises the national interest," he asserted.

For his part, Mr. Fadhel Moussa said that the President of the Republic could take the initiative and appoint a new prime minister who does not belong to the three-party alliance, to entrust him with forming a government, in compliance with article 19 (3rd paragraph) of "the small Constitution."

This person, however, should gain the confidence of the National Constituent Assembly (NCA), he specified.
