220213 president recoit larayadh02CARTHAGE (TAP) - Ali Larayedh has announced that he will conduct consultations to form a new government, following his official designation on Friday by the President of the Republic.

He expressed hope that the forthcoming cabinet would win the support of constitutional institutions, political parties and Tunisian people.

Ali Larayedh, who met with Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki in Carthage, substantially said: "We will conduct consultations to form a new government which will be that of all Tunisians and which will proceed on that basis."

He added that he would need "the support of all sides - presidency, the National Constituent Assembly (NCA), government and parties."

He also voiced hope that the new line-up will be agreed on by all parties, organisations, different social strata and the national elite, "particularly the media people, men of culture, artists as well as preachers."

The Prime-Minister designate has to conduct consultations with a view to forming a new cabinet and submit the line-up to the President of the Republic within 15 days, pending the NCA's vote of confidence.

Ali Larayedh read out a statement in front of journalists, declining to answer their questions. He said laconically that he will brief them on another occasion on "the national priorities" of his government.
