TUNIS (TAP) - "The fingerprints of Kamel Gadhgadhi, alleged murderer of Chokri Belaid, were identified on a car used for the transport of weapons from Douar Hicher towards a weapons depot in M'nihla (governorate of Ariana)," Interior Ministry's official spokesman Mohamed Ali Aroui.
"The initial owner of the weapons depot called Saber Mechergui, was arrested, on Thursday, by the National Guard forces in collaboration with the intelligence services," he announced during a meeting with the press held on Friday, in Tunis.
"During the investigations led to this effect, Mechergui evoked the participation of Gadhgadhi in the transport of arms", the Ministry's spokesman added, underlining that "explosives and documents on instructions of making arms were found in the possession of Mechergui."
"The car used in the transport of arms, is a stolen car in the El Khadra district in Tunis, belonging to Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG)."
"Kamel Gadhgadhi as well as Ahmed Rouissi and Ezzeddine Abdellaoui, involved in the assassination of Chokri Belaid, are also suspected to have participated in weapons smuggling," the same source specified.
"These suspects provided support to the terrorist cell holed up in the region of Jebel Chaambi," revealed the Ministry's spokesman.
