Tunis, June 23 (TAP) - A first-of-its-kind biodiversity platform named “Naturadex Islands” has just been launched by the Tunisian Wildlife Association (ATVS).

Freely accessible via [http://naturadexislands.atvs.tn], the platform features over 2,500 data points on the fauna and flora of wetland areas in the Beja Governorate.

This collaborative platform aims to promote Tunisia’s island biodiversity by collecting, centralising, sharing and enhancing knowledge about the diversity of Tunisian islands, according to ATVS.

It also provides access to all data collected by the Tunisian Wildlife Association on the country’s islands, along with a comprehensive checklist of species found there, all through an intuitive portal.

"Citizens can actively contribute to this database by submitting their own observations," said the association, which noted that the platform will continue to evolve in the coming months.

The project was developed in partnership with Notre Grand Bleu, AJEM – Jlij Association for Marine Environment, Kraten Association for Sustainable Development, Culture and Leisure in Kerkennah, Tipaza Association, The Dreamer, and the **Laboratory for Diversity, Management and Conservation of Biological Systems, along with various experts and naturalists.

It is funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) and the PIM Initiative for Small Mediterranean Islands.
