(TAP) - The turnout in the runoff legislative elections stood at 11.3%, said President of the Independent Higher Authority for the Elections (ISIE) Farouk Bouaskar.

Some 887.688 out of 7.853.447 registered voters, had casted their ballots till 6 p.m., the closing time of all polling stations in 131 constituencies, Bouasker added at a press conference held Sunday evening.

This is a preliminary result, he said, specifying that the error margin is narrow.

"The official turnout is calculated on the basis of the polling station reports, which include signatures and counted ballots," he explained.

Bouasker further indicated that 67.64% of the voters are men while 32.66% are women.

The polling proceeded in "good conditions" insofar as no violations have so far been reported in any of the constituencies, he added.

Once the counting of ballots ends, copies of the minutes are posted at the entrance to the polling stations and then dispatched by the security and armed forces to the local election authorities' collect centres, the ISIE president said.

Each local authority will draw up a new collection minutes which will, in turn, be submitted to the ISIE council that will convene on Monday afternoon to examine the various reports on the election campaign, before proclaiming the preliminary results of the legislative election runoff.

In case of election offences, some results can be partially or totally annulled, Bouasker warned.
