(TAP) - Maghrebi Nejiba Hamrouni's prize for journalistic ethics was awarded this year to the Tout Sur l'Algerie (TSA) news website.

Launched in 2018, the prize is organised annually by the Yakadha Association for Democracy and Civil Status.

During a ceremony held Thursday night in Tunis, academic Tawfik Yaacoub said that this prize was awarded on the basis of the criterion of objectivity in the treatment of political news in Algeria.

The Algerian website was created in 2007 in French before launching the Arabic version in 2009.

Last year, the Prize had been awarded to a Moroccan media.

The ceremony offered the opportunity to present the rich carrier of activism and fight for the freedom of expression of former president of the National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) Nejiba Hamrouni, who died on May 29, 2016.

The intervention of Yakadha Kamel Laabidi's president, read by journalist Nedra Boukesra, emphasized the importance of freedom of expression for democracy and the emancipation of peoples.
