First edition of European Film Festival marked by growing interest of Tunisian public for cinema (organisers)

(TAP) - A first successful edition and a growing interest of the Tunisian public for the cinema, these are the main remarks of the organisers of the 1st edition of the European Film Festival in Tunisia, during the closing ceremony, organized, Sunday, at the Culture City.

"The film sector in Tunisia is booming with the proliferation of festivals namely the simultaneous organisation of the European Film Festival, the Tunisian Film Festival and soon the Manarat Festival, said Director of the Tunisian Cinémathèque Hichem Ben Ammar.

In the presence of Attaché of Co-operation of the European Union Delegation to Tunisia Bruno Montariol, directors and film lovers, Ben Ammar voiced satisfaction at the success of this first edition in spite of its coincidence with the 2nd edition of the Tunisian Film Festival, organised on June 10-15, according to a post on the Facebook page of the Culture City.

For his part, Bruno Montariol commended the success of this festival and the quality of the selected European films, announcing that the 2nd edition of the festival will be better with more films that will be translated into several languages ​​in order to benefit a wide audience.

After a few years of absence, the European Film Festival in Tunisia made its return on June 10-16, in a first edition organised by the Tunisian Cinémathèque in partnership with the European Union. Twelve films illustrating recent European production had been screened.
