(TAP) - An agreement on wage increases in the print and electronic press sector for 2018 and 2019, was signed on Thursday between Minister of Social Affairs Mohamed Trabelsi, Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) Noureddine Tabboubi, President of the Association of Newspaper Directors Taieb Zahar and the Secretary-General of the General Union of Information under the UGTT.

The agreement provides for a first increase of 6.5% of the base salary for 2018 compared to the salary of 2017 and a second increase of 6.5% for 2019 compared to the salary of 2018.

Employees in the print and electronic media sector will also benefit from a rise of 6.5% per month in fixed and general monthly bonuses for the years 2018 and 2019.

Thus, the attendance bonus would be 25,128 dinars as of May 1, 2018 and 26,761 D as of May 1, 2019 in addition to the transport, travel and other bonuses.

Increases in base salaries will be retroactive and will take effect on May 1, 2018 and May 1, 2019.

An agreement on wage increases in the print and electronic media sector was signed in 2016 for the years 2016 and 2017. The increase was 6%.
