(TAP) - Akari-Lisa ISHII, a lighting designer active in Japan and Europe, was invited by the Embassy of Japan for a visit to Tunisia from January 24 to 27.

The Japanese designer realised the lighting of the Rades-La Goulette bridge on the occasion of TICAD 8 last August, where many African personalities (48 countries, 20 heads of state) saw the lighting and imagined a bright future for Africa.

In front of an audience of about 200 people at the Ecole Nationale d'Architecture et d'Urbanisme de Tunis (ENAU), ISHII spoke about the role of lighting and effective lighting methods for various objects and occasions, including cities, architecture (interior and exterior), landscapes, monuments, exhibitions and events, showing many lighting projects.

She also participated in a debate with experts in architecture and infrastructure to give ideas on the role of lighting in Tunisia.

A Talk-show on new lighting concepts and light arts was also held at Cité de la Culture, with the participation of several architects, students, filmmakers as well as the general public.

Two photo exhibitions of her light works are currently on display at ENAU (until 31 January) and at the Cinémathèque Tunisienne (until 5 February).

Visitors can see photographs of traditional architecture, heritage sites and infrastructure in Japan and Europe that shine with the fascinating light designs of Japanese architect ISHII and her teams.

She has also spread the lighting attraction through the activities of the Japan-Tunisia Friendship Association and through appearances on radio programmes.
