Tunisian poet Abdelaziz Hammami wins Al Qawafi Award in 20th edition of Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival

(TAP) - Tunisian poet Abdelaziz Hammami, Thursday, won Al Qawafi award in the 20th edition of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival, held from January 8 to 14, in the UAE.

Poet Hammami is the author of numerous poems published in the cultural sections of several newspapers and magazines. He was also the local correspondent of TAP news agency in Kairouan and had several works with the national radio and the Tunisian television.

He was born in Kairouan and was one of the founders of the first literary club in Kairouan in the late sixties.

He is the second Tunisian poet to win a prize in the 20th edition of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival after the Tunisian poet and critic Moncef Ouhaïbi who won the first "Sharjah Prize for Poetic Criticism".

12 prizes were awarded to participants during this 20th edition which was attended by poets and critics from several Arab countries.
