(TAP) – The Syrian cultural week will be organised from September 25 to 30, 2017 in Tunis, Monastir and three other cities in southern Tunisia (Sfax, Sekhira and Gabes), announced Friday the National Forum of Support to Arab Resistance and Fight against normalisation with the Zionist entity.

In a press briefing held in Tunis, President of the Forum, Ahmed Kahlaoui, said that the programme offers several cultural and artistic events including musical performances, plays and film screenings. Handicrafts exhibitions and a book fair are also scheduled in this cultural week dedicated to the artistic scene and the rich Syrian heritage.

Syria will be represented by a group of intellectuals and artists, including the president of the Syrian parliamentary union, Zouheir Ramadan, artist Ahmed Khiari and political scientist Bassem Abdallah.

Ahmed Kahlaoui called on "the Tunisian authorities to support Syria, especially since relations of common interest unite the two countries," he said, while mentioning the upcoming international conference on the reconstruction of Syria.

For Khalil Rekik, journalist and active member of the Forum, "the holding of this cultural event is a message to reaffirm that it is time to restore the political and diplomatic relations that have been broken between the two countries since 2011, shortly after the outbreak of the Syrian revolution ".

"President Béji Caïd Essebsi, is called to honour his electoral promises and restore relations with this brotherly country," Rekik added.
