(TAP) – The Tunisian-Libyan Bank (BTL) intends to ink several agreements with Tunisian investors to set up a number of factories in Tunisia, notably for the processing of agricultural products and cement, President of the Tunisia Africa Business Council (TABC) Bassem Loukil announced on Thursday.

Speaking at the opening of the Tunisian-Libyan Business Forum, the official voiced wish that flights between Tunisia and Libya will resume as soon as possible, new shipping lines connecting several Libyan cities to Sfax, Tunis and Zarzis will be opened and problems related to the trade sector will be solved to boost trade and economic relations between the two countries.

"National carrier Tunisair projects to open new air routes in Africa in order to face fierce competition in Europe," Loukil pointed out, estimating that the transport sector will undoubtedly increase and expand trade and business co-operation between African countries.

The Libyan partners affirmed their willingness to further foster trade relations with the Tunisian side, especially in the hotel trade sector and private clinics, he said.

Loukil recalled that the Executive Board of the Tunisian Africa Business Council had decided in April 2018 to establish the first Tunisian-Libyan Co-operation Council to be tasked with boosting trade and investment between businessmen in the two countries and their counterparts in the African continent.
