(TAP) - President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region Renaud Muselier is paying an official visit to Tunisia July 14-16, leading a delegation made up of representatives of the harbour, culture, higher education and environment protection worlds, the Embassy of France in Tunis announced in a press release.

The official will be received by the Ministers of Local Affairs and Environment, of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy and of Tourism and Handicrafts, as well as by the governor of Tunis.

According to Muselier, this visits aims to achieve concrete results in the Mediterranean future strategy launched in November 2017: "More than ever, at a time when Tunisia and France are facing the challenges of terrorism, global warming and the economic and social future of the Mediterranean, we must build bridges between us ... We will establish with Tunisia’s actors concrete partnerships in all the subjects that unite us."

The visit of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region’s delegation will focus on the issue of dock electrification of ships on the Tunis and Marseille ports.

The official said that "to get real results in Marseille, it is necessary that the ships of the Tunisian Navigation Company can also connect to Tunis! We will therefore contribute to the air quality in Marseille by meeting with Director General of the Grand Maritime Port of Marseille Hervé Martel and the decision-makers of the Goulette Port in Tunis to advance on this issue."

Subjects to be discussed during this visit are also training and higher education, fire fighting and access to culture and the protection of Mediterranean biodiversity.
