Some 10 MD to finance 47 tourist municipalities

(TAP)-The Ministries of Local Affairs and Environment and Tourism and Handicrafts on Monday concluded an agreement on the allocation of nearly 10 million dinars to 47 tourist municipalities, as part of the interventions of the Fund for the Protection of Tourist Areas.

According to a joint statement, this funding will be used to improve cleanliness, strengthen interventions in tourist areas and routes, and acquire equipment to strengthen environmental protection facilities.

The agreement was signed at a meeting of the steering committee of the Tourism Zones Protection Fund, chaired by Minister of Local Affairs and Environment, Mokhtar Hammami, and Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, René Trabelsi. The meeting focused on monitoring the environmental situation in tourist areas and the interventions of the Protection Fund in these areas to support municipalities improve the level of cleanliness and ensure a good tourist season.

The meeting focused on strengthening the control of the various interventions and ensuring the technical support of municipalities to achieve the expected efficiency, while calling on the Coastal Protection and Development Agency (APAL) to better intensify the control and cleanliness operations of different beaches.
