Tunisia wins seat in UNWTO Executive Council

(TAP) -Tunisia officially won on Tuesday a seat in the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) for four years, during the 23rd session of the UNWTO General Assembly held in Saint-Petersburg (Russia), September 9-13.

Out of the 11 African candidate countries, 6 countries including Tunisia will represent the African Continent until 2023.

Thanks to this seat, Tunisia will participate in the decision-making and development of the future strategies of the organisation, which will help it promote the national tourism.

The UNWTO Executive Council observed a minute of silence in memory of late President Beji Caid Essebsi.

The 23rd session of the UNWTO General Assembly, hosted for the first time by Russia and attended by representatives from over 150 countries, is an annual international meeting to address world tourism issues.
