(TAP)- The Sea Forum-Bizerte 2019 is set for September 21 after a first edition (October 20-21, 2018) proved to be a success, said French Ambassador in Tunis and President of the National Maritime Museum in Paris Olivier Poivre d'Arvor.

Organisers seek to make of this forum a key international event to discuss blue economy issues and challenges in the Mediterranean.

Poivre d'Arvor Wednesday further told a news conference at the seat of the municipality of Carthage the Sea Forum is an opportunity for Mediterranean countries to share their expertise and implement tangible commitments with a view to ensuring a wise use of the Mediterranean sea and coasts.

The forum falls in line with the Blue Season event which, Poivre d'Arvor said, is aimed to demonstrate the economic, strategic and cultural importance of Tunisia's seas through labelling.

A youth forum focused on environment will be held at the closing of the second edition of the Blue Season, due in Nabeul on September 27-29, with the participation of 200 Tunisian youth, said Olivier Poivre d'Arvor.

Challenges facing the gulf of Gabés will be at the heart of the third edition of the Sea Forum-Bizerte 2020, he announced in this connection.

A partnership agreement was inked by the Tunisian and French maritime clusters, represented by their respective presidents Ezzedine Kacem and Frédéric Moncany de Saint-Aignan. The signing ceremony was notably attended by the mayors of Bizerte and Carthage and French Secretary-General of the Sea Denis Robin.

The agreement is designed to enhance synergies between Tunisia and France in a bid to foster the blue economy.
