(TAP)- A two-month training course aimed at improving and developing sustainable solutions in the textile sector will be organised in April 2021 for 40 young graduates, innovative students and entrepreneurs aged between 34 and 40.

This training is part of the project: Sustainable Textile Action for Networking and Development of Circular Economy Business Ventures in the Mediterranean (STAND Up!), aimed at turning project ideas and innovative solutions into circular economy oriented businesses.

Initiated by the Tunis International Centre for Environmental Technologies (CITET), in cooperation with the Technical Textiles Centre (CETTEX), this training is targeted at innovators and entrepreneurs in the Textile, clothing and fashion sector, said CITET.

A call for applications has already been launched since February 15 till March 15, for the benefit of entrepreneurs in sustainable solutions and circulars, with individual or group projects, having an idea for a sustainable business in the textile, clothing and fashion sector and with the potential to create ecological and social value.

Once selected, project beneficiaries will enjoy several advantages in terms of technical support and funding opportunities, the same source pointed out.

They will have access to a network of companies at a regional level to promote their textile or fashion businesses across the Mediterranean.

STAND Up! is a new project funded by the European Union under the ENI CBC Med Programme focusing on the support to eco-innovative entrepreneurs and enterprises within the textile and clothing sector.

The project will provide a wide range of innovative solutions and tools - such as trainings, technical and design expertise, financial support, market opportunities, technology transfer solutions – with the aim to stimulate the creation and growth of enterprises and provide employment opportunities in the area, while reducing the environmental footprint of the sector.

Mediterranean countries involved are Tunisia, Egypt, Italy, Lebanon and Spain.

Around 200 start-ups and recently established companies will be directly involved in activities and benefit from the support of this project.
