(TAP)-Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (UTAP) President Abdelmajid Ezzar called on Sunday in Hammamet, the political actors in Tunisia to "launch a national dialogue that sets out the economic choices to save the country," an initiative of UTAP.
In a statement to TAP on the fringes of UTAP's extended executive board meeting, which kicked off Saturday in Hammamet, Ezzar added that he will examine "strategic orientations" for the country and then table recommendations to the 5+5 meeting, scheduled for next week or the week after.
On the agenda of the UTAP EB meeting are discussions on the governance of state-owned agricultural land, the development of agricultural production systems, distribution channels, investment development, the agricultural map and the governance and fisheries development.
"These issues are very important for the country's economy and not only for farmers and fishermen," said Ezzar, pointing out that solutions to the problems of the agricultural sector could help solve unemployment and other social problems.
The union is ready to participate in all dialogues provided they are "transparent and based on a participatory approach," he affirmed.
