National Security Council meets to examine phosphate production, transport and phosphogypsum processing

(TAP) - The file on phosphate production and transport, in addition to the processing of phosphogypsum, were the major topics of the meeting of the National Security Council chaired by President of the Republic Kais Saied, on Wednesday afternoon at the Carthage Palace, said a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic.

During the meeting, Some solutions likely to restore and exceed the levels of phosphate production recorded previously were examined. In this regard, the President of the Republic called for the need to adopt a comprehensive approach to this vital sector.

The council also addressed, according to the same report, the issue of corruption that affected the purchase of phosphate transport vehicles, considering it unacceptable since it was said after their acquisition that they could not be operated on the existing railway.

The council also discussed the issue of processing phosphogypsum and exploiting it in accordance with the studies that have been proven, in addition to the issue of phosphate washing plants and the need to lay a pipe to the mining basin after desalinating the seawater.

As for the issue of gardening, it was stressed that young people must be provided with the resources and capacities that will enable them to be a source of wealth. On this occasion, the President of the Republic praised the people of Gafsa, recalling their long struggles, particularly in 2008.
