"TUNISIA 2020" conference in figures (Fadhel Abdelkefi)

(TAP) - Mohamed Fadhel Abdelkefi, Minister of Development, Investment and International Cooperation presented at a press conference Wednesday the main results of the International Conference on Investment "Tunisia 2020" in figures.

The event was attended by 4,500 people, 1,500 economic partners, 70 participating countries and 40 official delegations. It garnered a total financing amount of of 34 billion dinars.

The agreements signed at the conference:

France :

- Loans of 3 billion dinars over 4 years

- 420 million additional dinars / financing on preferential terms

- Donation of €25 million

- A commitment to intensify the conversion of debt into development projects (regional hospitals)

Saudi Arabia :

1.8 billion dinars through the Saudi Fund for Development/ financing on preferential terms over 25/30 years at an interest rate that does not exceed 2% with a grace period of 5 to 7 years


260 million dinars

European Union

- Donation: 500 million dinars

- EIB: 6.8 billion dinars over four years and 600 million dinars of financing on preferential terms over 6 years


3.3 billion dinars of financing on preferential terms over 30 years and 7 years of grace


- Relocation of the Bank's regional office. Tunisia will now be the capital of the AfDB for North Africa.

- 309 million dinars of financing on preferential terms

- 1.5 billion dinars for the next 4 years


- Opening of the first subsidiary of Qatar's development fund outside Qatar

Promises (19 billion dinars)

Qatar: 2.8 billion dinars

Kuwait: 1.1 billion dinars

Turkey: 250 million dinars

Switzerland: 560 million dinars

Canada: 50 million dinars

AfDB: 5 billion dinars for the next few years

Islamic Development Bank: 4.4 billion dinars over 5 years

World Bank: 2.2 billion dinars

The promises depend on ongoing negotiations with the IMF, Abdelkefi said.

Partnerships signed:

- Microsoft / Minister of Communication Technologies and the Digital Economy: setting up an electronic platform for the future national investment body

- SMART Tunisia / French company DécoD Technologies: 400 jobs

- STAFIM / Groupe PSA: assembly and marketing of pick-up vehicle of PEUGEOT brand.

- Telnet / Airbus

- Ministry of Tourism / Qatari Group "Al Majda": Launch of mega-tourism project in Gammarth for a total investment of 450 million dollars.

- Ministry of Health / UK group to finance hospitals
