(TAP) – The governors of Jendouba, El Kef, Beja, Siliana and Kasserine were invited to organise meetings of the regional disaster response and relief commissions, and to take precautionary measures to cope with the bad weather, following the observed fall in temperature and snowfall and the distribution of aid to poor families in the form of food, blankets and mattresses to help them cope with the cold spell, says a statement of the Information and Communication Office of the Ministry of Interior issued Friday.

In this context, several measures have been taken in particular to provide basic consumer products, including oil and gas tanks for domestic consumption, and to ensure people with certain chronic diseases and kidney failure are hospitalised in the nearest hospitals so that they can receive the necessary treatment programme in coordination with the health services, the statement added.

Measures also include mobilising snowplows to secure traffic flow, setting up accommodation facilities to operate when needed, and distributing assistance to low-income families (food, blankets and mattresses) to help them cope with the weather.

The regional disaster response and relief commissions will remain on constant alert to respond to any emergency and respond when necessary

In this regard, the Regional Disaster Relief Commission in Jendouba Governorate has decided to close the main roads leading to the city of Ain Drahem at the level of the Fernana delegation and the localities of Jaballah and Tibaniya. Similarly, the statement states that heavy goods vehicles will be banned from accessing the roads marked until further notice.
