Mohamed Ennaceur meets HAICA President

(TAP)- Speaker of the House of People's Representatives (HPR), Mohamed Ennaceur, expressed on Wednesday his respect for the "vital role of the Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HAICA) in regulating the audiovisual media landscape in order to provide pluralist and responsible information that contributes to the success of the democratic process".

Ennaceur was speaking during his meeting with HAICA President Nouri Lajmi at the Bardo Palace on Wednesday.

On this occasion, Lajmi gave an overview of the regulator's work, in particular with regard to the control and monitoring of infringements and malfunctions in the audiovisual sector.

He also highlighted HAICA's role in providing guidance and raising awareness to ensure the right of citizens to free, impartial and diversified information, according to a parliamentary statement.

Present at the meeting were the HAICA’s council members and the HPR Speaker’s Assessor, in charge of relations with the judiciary and the constitutional authorities.
