(TAP) - Nidaa Tounes does not call for the postponement of the next elections and its lists for the legislative elections in all constituencies will be ready by July 22, said its legal representative, Hafedh Caid Essebsi

Speaking at a press conference at the party’s headquarters on Tuesday, the Nidaa Tounes leader said the movement is waiting for a response from President Beji Caid Essebsi on his bid or not for the presidential election to take a final stand on the movement’s candidate for this election.

He stressed that his movement "has not ties with the Tahya Tounes movement or the Ennahdha movement and is busy preparing its electoral lists for the legislative elections".

On the recent amendments to the organic law on elections and referendums approved by the Parliament, Hafedh Caid Essebsi said these have "positive and negative" points and did not put an end to party hopping by MPs.

About Neji Jaloul's resignation from his post as secretary general of the party, he said he was surprised at the decision, "especially as the party and the country are facing difficulties".

In this regard, he pointed to the creation of a provisional internal committee to promote dialogue and reconciliation between the parties in disagreement in order to overcome differences and close the party’s ranks, within the framework of a broad reconciliation including all members of the movement without exclusion or discrimination ".

He said the internal committee includes Issa Hidoussi, Kassem Makhlouf, Ines Ben Nasr, Chaker Ayadi and Mustapha Garouachi, in a move to bring back the party’s faction headed by Soufiene Toubel.

At the end of the press conference, the party distributed a statement from the political bureau of the movement, which met on Tuesday, announcing the appointment of Ali Hafsi as Secretary-General for Structures and Radhouan Ayara, President of the Political Bureau.

The party also decided to attach the local leadership council to the executive leadership of the movement, overseen by Khaled Chaouket.

The movement also agreed to create a national committee to prepare the lists for the legislative elections, select the heads of list and work on the coordination of all the movement’s structures, in order to accelerate the completion of the necessary procedures "to ensure a successful participation in the next elections".
