(TAP) - Deployed in Tunisia to monitor the election campaign, observers from the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) visited IRIE's one-stop shop on Thursday.

They were informed of the role of this office in coordinating electoral activities in the region during the presidential election campaign scheduled for September 15.

Nicoleta Stupu (EU EOM) stressed that during their mission, they will meet with election officials, candidates, political parties, civil society, polling station members, voters, media and citizens.

The aim is to ensure that preparations are well under way, particularly logistically during the election campaign and on election day, with a view to making these elections a success, said Noureddine Ahmane (EU EOM).

28 observers are deployed in all the governorates of Tunisia to monitor the electoral campaign nationwide, at the invitation of the Independent High Authority for the Election (ISIE) and the Tunisian Government.

A report will be prepared and presented by the EU EOM at the end of the elections, including a thorough assessment of the electoral process and recommendations for future elections.
