Presidential Race 2019: Hammadi Jebali in Tataouine for electoral campaign

(TAP) - Independent presidential candidate Hammadi Jebali went to Tataouine, Thursday, as part of his electoral campaign. Jebali told TAP he quit the government in 2012 of his own free will and not out of weakness.

"I had disagreements with my party (Ennahdha) at that time, I left it, and today I feel able to defend my country as an independent,” he said.

The candidate believes to have learned from his experience, noting that “parties, lobbies and donors dictate their will to candidates.”

“An independent candidate is more likely to win the presidential election,” he added.

Jebali also noted that stability in Libya and Algeria is essential for Tunisia.

He called for the creation of free zones to fight parallel trade and promote exchanges with neighbouring countries.

He also stressed the urgent need to find adequate solutions to the Libyan crisis, which, he said, was fuelled by foreign sides.
