(TAP) - Safi Said, candidate of the People's Movement Party (MPP) for the early 2019 presidential election, concluded his campaign Friday evening in Gafsa with a large meeting at the city's archaeological fort bringing together his supporters and citizens of the district.

Safi Said said he was counting on the awareness of Tunisian men and women, "who will have the opportunity on Sunday to freely exercise their right to choose the one who is trustworthy, who can respond to their aspirations and dreams for a dignified life and to their country's sovereignty over its wealth".

He said that if he gained the trust of voters, he would commit himself to implementing his "years of defending" programme aimed at "nationalising wealth, holding corrupt people accountable and opening up obscure issues, such as the income from national wealth, the means to exploit it and those who benefit from it".

The candidate of the People's Party also pledged to support women, to achieve full equality, to involve them in political decision-making and to work to support their presence in decision-making centres. He stressed that teachers, professors and academics will have a special place if he wins the Supreme Judiciary, stating that "education and science are a bridge to the future".

He called on voters to vote "conscientiously" on Sunday and elect him as president, because he has "the perceptions and solutions that ensure the equitable development of all parts of the country, especially of Gafsa who has suffered for decades from poverty and marginalisation despite the wealth it generates for the benefit of the nation".

Safi Said also carried out activities to promote his campaign in Guettar, where he comes from, and Al Gasr.
