(TAP) - The Executive Board of the Association of Tunisian Magistrates (AMT) has called for a general strike with presence at workplaces in all courts of the Republic starting Friday, September 20 2019.

The AMT urged an investigation into Thursday’s incidents at the Tunis courthouse, calling for the prosecution of anyone whose involvement will be proven.

It said the strike was to continue for a week, pending the outcome of the investigation.

In addition, the Board of the association denounced the storming by some members of the defence lawyers committee of Chokri Belaid and Mohamed Brahmi in the office of the Public Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance of Tunis.

They allegedly insulted the Public Prosecutor and refused to leave, according to a statement from the AMT.
