Inaugural session of 2nd legislative term, Wednesday

(TAP) -The House of People's Representatives (HPR) is holding on Wednesday the inaugural session of the second legislative term (2019/2024).

Works will begin with an address by outgoing parliament interim speaker Abdelfattah Mourou.

The chair of the session will then be assigned to the oldest member. His deputies will be chosen from the youngest of the elect (a man and a woman).

After a brief suspension, the meeting will resume under the chairmanship of the latter and his deputies. It will be devoted to reading the final list of the new MPs on the basis of the final results of the legislative elections announced by the electoral authority.

The chairperson and his / her deputies will take the Constitutional oath followed by the other MPs.

The members of the electoral commission in charge of counting votes and control of the voting operation will be then elected. The commission will include 7 members according to the proportional representation.

The agenda of the inaugural session includes the election of the Speaker and the first and second Vice-Speakers by a majority of 109 votes.
