(TAP)– Prime Minister designate Elyes Fakhfakh insists on keeping “Qalb Tounes” party out of the consultations on the future government formation, said Fakhfakh team member Adnen Ben Youssef, on Wednesday.

“Fakhfakh's choice is to create a harmonious supporting partisan belt, basing on the last legislative vote and on the experience of successive governments,” he told TAP.

This choice aims to expedite the implementation of a government programme that meets the aspirations of the Tunisian people and to carry out “deep” reforms to get out of the crisis, he added.

He also stressed that the position of Ennahdha only “represents them,” ensuring that the process of forming the government had found a favourable response in most political parties.

“The consultations will end with the signing of the contract memorandum for the government programme,” he said.

Ben Youssef warned of the risks that could arise from the rejection of the next government; the socio-economic situation of the country cannot bear the scenario of early legislative elections.

Ennahdha President Rached Ghannouchi, on Wednesday, said that the government of Fakhfakh will not obtain the confidence of the Parliament without the support of “Qalb Tounes.”

He criticised the choice of President Kais Saied of entrusting Elyes Fakhfakh with forming the government.

“Fakhfakh was not the person most able to form the government,” he said.
