(TAP)- Eleven MPs of Qalb Tounes have submitted their resignation from the party's parliamentary group to the presidency of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR). The resignation document was signed by senior party leaders. They are Ridha Charfeddine, Hatem Mliki, Khaled Gassouma, Naima Mansouri, Amira Charfeddine, Safa Ghribi, Souhir Askri, Meriem Laghmani, Samira Ben Slama, Hassen Belhaj Brahim and Imed Ouled Jebril. TAP, unsuccessfully, tried to contact the resigning MPs to get details on the reasons for this collective resignation. Qalb Tounes spokesperson Sadok Jebnoun told TAP the party had not received any official document about the resignation. He said that the issue will be discussed within the party structures, particularly the political bureau, in case the resignations are confirmed. Qalb Tounes came second in the last parliamentary elections in October 2019, after winning 39 seats in parliament. Its parliamentary group did not vote confidence in Fakhfakh’s government at last February 26 plenary session. |
