Takfiri arrested over planning terror attack (Interior)

(TAP) - A Takfiri was apprehended recently over planning a terror attack, the Interior Ministry said.

The arrest is the fruit of a proactive operation carried out under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office at the Judicial Counter-Terrorism Division.

The man "took advantage of the particular situation prevailing in the country considering the spread of the COVID-19," reads a press release.

This "lone wolf terrorist" was planning a terrorist attack during the month of Ramadan on a security facility or a sensitive site. He admitted he had pledged allegiance to Daech and establised ties with two other terrorists in the country.

He also said he had started acquiring equipment needed for making explosive devices , the ministry said.

The Judicial Counter-Terrorism Division issued detention warrants for the three terrorists.
