Developments of situation in Tataouine discussed at Parliament’s Bureau meeting

(TAP) - The House of People’s Representatives (HPR), on Monday, discussed developments of the situation in the governorate of Tataouine marked by tension in the wake of Sunday’s police intervention at the sit-in observed for more than two months in the southern Tunisian city of El Kamour.

At its meeting under the chairmanship of Speaker of Parliament Rached Ghannouchi, the HPR Bureau also examined the draft budget of the Parliament for the year 2021.

The draft budget was presented by MP Osama Khelifi, the assessor in charge of controlling the implementation of the budget.

The bureau of the HPR decided to continue the review of the draft budget at its next meeting.

In addition, the Parliament’s bureau decided to add to the agenda of the plenary session scheduled for June 30, 2020, an item relating to the examination of Bill No. 2020-21 approving the loan agreement signed on November 6, 2019 between the Tunisian Republic and the African Development Bank on the financing of the project to develop an d promote agricultural organisations in Zaghouan.

The Bureau of the Parliament also decided to hold a plenary session on July 1 to examine and discuss the report of the Committee of Inquiry into the Amdoun accident.

This plenary session will be attended by the Ministers of the Interior, Justice, Tourism and Handicrafts and Public Works, Housing and Spatial Planning, as well as the Minster of State for Transport and Logistics.

With regard to its oversight action, the Bureau submitted 71 written questions to the Government and decided to dedicate Mondays and Fridays of the remainder of the parliamentary session to oral questions (61 questions).

The HPR Bureau also took note of the resignation of MPs Mabrouk Kourchid, Kamel Aouadi and Ayachi Zammel from the parliamentary bloc of the Tahya Tounes party.
