(TAP) - President Kaîs Saied decided to create a committee, under the Presidency of the Republic tasked with following up the files on looted money and overruns relating to the assets of the national community at home and abroad.

This announcement was made by Minister of State Property and Land Affairs Leila Jaffel, after meeting with President Kaïs Saied on Monday.

Quoted in a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, the Head of State reaffirmed his determination to preserve public money and to apply "rigorously the law to everyone without any exclusion.

"The supreme interest of the homeland is above all consideration," he insisted.

Accordingly, President Saied called to apply the law on anyone who "plays" with public money and to stop the haemorrhage that has plagued Tunisia for decades.

"The fight against corruption requires any official to be accountable to citizens," he said.
