(TAP) -The Democratic bloc at the House of People's Representatives (42 MPs) has decided to table a legislative initiative on the draft law on audio-visual media, Secretary-General of the Democratic Current (Attayar), a member of the bloc, Ghazi Chaouachi said Tuesday.

Chaouachi added that his group will table in parliament the same bill presented by the former government of Elyes Fakhfakh.

"This government (of Fakhfakh) has consulted the sector's professionals and the journalists' union about the draft law on audio-visual law," Chaouachi pointed out.

The current government has withdrawn the draft law on audiovisual submitted by the former government, along with 5 other bills.

The Secretary General of the Attayar said the Mechichi government "made a mistake" by withdrawing the bill, noting that it has paved the way for a "tailor-made" initiative for certain political parties, lobbies and their channels "outside the law".
