(TAP) – The COVID-19 pandemic requires joint Arab action to address challenges in our respective countries, Second Deputy Speaker of the House of People's Representatives (HPR) Tarek Fetiti said.

Fetiti also told Thursday the 27th session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter- Parliamentary Union held remotely there is need to increase inter-parliamentary dialogue and step up efforts in order to identify solutions.

"The HPR is closely monitoring the state of affairs in several Arab countries and hopes crises could be resolved by demonstrating national unity to achieve stability, development and rebuilding, " he added.

The Palestinian cause is one of our priorities, the official said. Palestinians are faced today with several difficulties and they need to be supported and see their right to an independent state with Al-Quds as capital championed.

Fetiti laid emphasis, in another vein, on the importance of involving youth and women in decision-making and initiatives to tackle economic and social issues.

The development of the educational system and scientific research and speeding up the creation of the Arab common market will be the main drivers of economic integration and complementarity and increased competitiveness, he highlighted.
