(TAP) - Speaker of the House of People's Representatives (ARP) Rached Ghannouchi and MPs from different parliamentary groups are now staging a sit-in outside the ARP headquarters after having been denied access.

MPs are protesting outside parliament after having been prevented from entering by security and military forces, demanding to enter and resume activities, member of Ennahdha's executive committee Khelil Baroumi stated to TAP.

A tightened security presence has been deployed since Sunday evening in the vicinity of the parliament in Bardo, preventing the parliament speaker, deputies and staff to access the parliament. Traffic has been banned.

Several supporters of the Ennahdha movement gathered in front of the parliament at the call of Rached Ghannouchi to defend "legitimacy." They brandished slogans against President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed.
