(TAP) - A detention warrant was issued on Monday against MP Seifeddine Makhlouf in the so-called “airport case,” Ines Harrath, a lawyer of Makhlouf said in a statement.

Although prosecuted, Makhlouf, lawyer and president of Al-Karama bloc in the suspended Parliament, appeared on September 17 at the Tunis military court to represent MP Nidhal Saoudi (Al-Karama bloc), who was heard in the same case.

Informed of the legal impossibility of representing Saoudi due to the conflict of interest, Makhlouf insulted and threatened a military judge.

The "airport case" dates back to March 15, 2021, when MPs from Al-Karama Coalition invaded the Tunis-Carthage airport to protest the travel ban on a woman with an S-17 file. They sparked an altercation and physically and verbally assaulted airport security staff.

The Interior Ministry, in 2013, issued the S-17 measure as part of the national plan to combat terrorism, to monitor the movements of individuals suspected of affiliation with jihadi groups, and who might attempt to join armed groups in conflict zones.
