(TAP) - Suspended parliament MP Yassine Ayari was sentenced in absentia to 10 months in prison by the Tunis Military Court of First Instance for "undermining the morale of the army" and "offending the Head of State", TAP learnt Friday from his lawyer Malek Ben Amor.

The charges against Ayari follow publications on Facebook after July 25, 2021.

The lawyer explained that his client was sentenced in absentia as he is abroad and could not appear before the court. The judgment is subject to appeal, he added.
