(TAP) - The Tunisian League for Human Rights (LTDH) condemned the «unjustified violence» by the police against peaceful demonstrations.

"The league rejects any unfounded legal proceedings, particularly with regard to charges of damaging other people's property or assaulting police officers," it said in a statement on Thursday.

The LTDH also urged the Interior Minister to «stop the use of force during peaceful demonstrations» and to prosecute the aggressors, so as to bring an end to any form of impunity, stressing the imperative to release all protesters, arrested and detained.

The league also voiced concern about the multiplication of protests in several regions and in the Greater Tunis area, notably in Cité Ettadhamen, Mornag, Zarzis and Bizerte.

These protests have been marked by attacks on demonstrators and arrests, the same source mentioned.

The LTDH recalled «the kidnapping, on October 19, of a member of its Bardo office Seif Ayadi, by four plainclothes police agents who took him to the district of the National Guard in Cité Ettadhamen.
