(TAP)- Several presiding officers of polling stations refused to provide voter turnout data to journalists and civil society activists, Mourakiboun said as Tunisians cast their ballots Sunday in the second round of legislative elections.

Mourakiboun denounced "the lack of transparency and the absence of information in several polling centres on polling day." This is "a dangerous precedent that would erode confidence in the election process," reads a statement.

The network said the Independent High Authority for Elections (French: ISIE) has violated the basic tenets of elections throught the whole process, mainly transparency, independence, and equality between candidates.

Mourakiboun also laid emphasis on shortcomings in arrangements put in place by the election commission to organise runoffs.

The ISIE published only four decisions, including two on accreditation deadlines of foreign observers and representatives of candidates (decision n°1-2023 and decision n°2-2023), one decision on election expenses (decision n°5-2023) and another on the calendar of the second round, Mourakiboun said.
