(TAP) – A terrorist cell active in the region of Menzel Hayet (Zarmeddine delegation-Monastir) and composed of five persons aged between 19 and 24 was unveiled by the investigation and research unit of the National Guard in Teboulba.

According to a statement from the Interior Ministry released Friday, members of the cell confessed, during police custody, to being followers of the Takfiri current and having permanent contact via Facebook with other terrorists from the region who already joined terrorist organisation Daesh in Syria.

The five individuals arrested would have also confessed to having trained for fighting on sand pits in Zarmeddine. Several messages exchanged on social networks show they are targeted by Daesh recruiters, said the same source.

After consulting the Prosecutor, the suspected terrorists were taken into custody and a criminal investigation was initiated against them.
