Co-operation between Tunisia and Qatar discussed as Caid Essebsi meets Emir Tamim

(TAP) - President Beji Caid Essebsi, on Tuesday, met Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, on the sidelines of "Tunisia 2020," .

Stress was put during the meeting on "the fruitful co-operation between the two countries and the various Qatari initiatives to support Tunisia since the revolution in various economic and financial fields and in investment."

Issues of mutual interest, particularly, "the aspects of co-operation in the fight against extremism and terrorism and the situation Libya, Syria and Yemen." were also discussed during the meeting.

According to a Presidency of the Republic press release, Caid Essebsi "expressed hope that Qatari businessmen participate along with their government to achieve the objectives of the "Tunisia 2020" conference, by contributing to the achievement, financing and creation of investment projects in various regions of the country in a way that benefits the two countries and two peoples."

The Head of State "expressed deep gratitude to the Emir of Qatar for his participation in person in the conference," hailing "Qatar's constant support to Tunisia and to this major economic event and its active contribution to its organisation."

The meeting was attended by Qatar's Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and Finance Minister Ali Shareef Al Emadi.
