(TAP) - Al-Irada party president Moncef Marzouki said, Monday, the current government has shown its inability to govern.

Speaking at a press conference, Marzouki said his party will propose a new model of development.

Al-Irada works for the stability and progress of Tunisia, he said.

The Al-Irada party is one of the "forces against corruption and the current model of economic development."

In this regard, Marzouki has indicated that his party is in constant dialogue with several other parties, such as Ettakatol, the Democratic Current and Al-Binaa to form a Democratic Front, in anticipation of the next Municipal elections in 2017 and the legislative and presidential elections in 2019.

"This front seeks to project itself as an alternative to the current regime," he said.

It will propose new projects and work to "restore the prestige of Tunisia" and put in place "a government capable of putting the country on the right track," he added.

The coalition aims to build genuine participatory democracy based on values of citizenship, transparency and respect for the law, he said.

Referring to the President of the Republic's decision to place oil production sites under military protection, Moncef Marzouki considered that this was a "serious political error".

According to him, it is "an attempt to involve the military institution" and "confront it" with protesters, calling to "keep the army away from political tug-of-war".

He also called on the judiciary to decide on the cases brought by the Al-Irada party over breaches recorded during the 2014 presidential election.
